While it would seem "challenging" to control and fly, the AR.Drone has several technologies and sensors in place to make the flying experience easy and fun! Since you use your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad device to control it, steering the helicopter is done by simply tilting your device left and right, and then controlling the motion through on-screen buttons. And with the two cameras on-board, you can visually see the live video feed on your Apple device, while you are controlling and flying the Quadricopter.
The AR.Drone works well indoors and outdoors. When flying it inside, it comes with a protective "shield" referred to as a "hull", in case you bump into anything inside the house. In a more open field outdoors, you can take the full hull off. It is powered with a lithium-ion battery that should last about 20 minutes of flying time, so you may want to consider buying an extra battery. And the "remote control" part is actually done through a Wi-Fi connection between your iPhone/Touch/iPad and the AR.Drone.
